Paris Hilton Arrest Roundup

Forgive us — we’re a little late to the party here at LasVegasPromotionCodes.com. Unless you have spent the past couple of days hiking the Appalachian Trail, by now you’ve heard about Paris Hilton’s arrest on suspicion of cocaine possession in Las Vegas. Where to start?

If you haven’t seen it yet, check out Hilton’s booking photo. That has to be the most glamorous mugshot in history, with the possible exception of Gary Busey’s.

In a bizarre, if implausible, twist, Hilton reportedly told officers “the purse was not hers, and that she had borrowed it from a friend.” As for the cocaine, she “thought it was gum.”

And the latest news is that boyfriend Cy Waits, who was arrested at the same time as Hilton, has been fired as managing partner of Tryst and XS nightclubs as a result of the allegations.

Restaurant Week in Vegas

More than 80 eateries are participating in Restaurant Week through September 5. Standouts on the impressive list include Aureole, Bradley Ogden, the Eiffel Tower Restaurant and Craftsteak. Best of all, the proceeds benefit Three Square, one of the top charities in Southern Nevada. The menus feature three-course meals conceived by world-famous chefs for $20, $30 or $50 per person, depending on the restaurant.

Free Pool Parties at Suncoast

The Suncoast will sponsor free pool parties on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 8 to 10 p.m through September 11. The hotel, at 9090 Alta Drive in the western part of the Las Vegas Valley, is part of the Boyd Gaming Group. For more information, contact the front desk.

Jersey Boys Charity Ticket Giveaway

The hit musical Jersey Boys will celebrate its 1,000th performance at the Palazzo on Saturday, August 28. Fans who bring a new pair of children’s shoes to the theater lobby between noon and 5 p.m. will receive a free ticket (limit two per person) to the 6:30 p.m. show as part of the “Walk Like a Man” shoe drive. The shoes will be donated to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Las Vegas.

PBR Rock Bar Debuts at Miracle Mile

That’s PBR as in Professional Bull Riders, not Pabst Blue Ribbon, although we’d be shocked if the low-brow brew weren’t on the menu. The new nightlife venue opened August 22 in the space formerly occupied by the Hawaiian Tropic Zone. You can expect Planet Hollywood to be kicking and bucking when the National Finals Rodeo roars into town in December.

Report: Madonna Mulling Vegas Residency

The Material Girl has been offered a five-year, $1 billion contract to perform regularly on the Las Vegas Strip, a British tabloid reports. Madonna would follow the likes of Elton John, Garth Brooks, Celine Dion and, of course, Elvis Presley in doing a late-career stint in Sin City. Local columnist Norm Clarke writes that Madonna rejected a similar offer several years ago.
