Best Vegas Hot Spots for NYE 2010

As Las Vegas prepares to welcome a new year, complete with several venues opening on New Year’s Eve, plan your partying schedule to ensure you don’t miss any of the headliners, concerts or deejays you’re dying to ring in the New Year with in town.

Here are a few of our favorite hot spots for NYE:

1. Holly Madison at Lavo: Peepshow star and reality TV darling Holly Madison rings in the New Year at Lavo, where guests can enjoy an open bar from 9 to 11 p.m. and watch the fireworks on the patio. The price of admission includes passed hors d’oeuvres and a midnight champagne toast. After midnight, guests from Lavo receive complimentary admission into Tao, as well. Admission is $150.

2. Mandalay Bay Block Party: The Mandalay Bay “Block Party” is back again. Border Grill and RM Seafood will set up catering stations along restaurant row, while those who purchase the Block Party Pass will be granted entrance into Mandalay Beach, where Fox will be filming “New Year’s Eve Live” hosted by Nancy O’Dell. The pass is $50 in advance and $75 the day of the event and includes five complimentary drinks redeemable at Mizuya, The Lounge, Race & Sports Bar, Orchid Lounge or any portable bar.

3. Rihanna at Pure: Rihanna will make sure they “Don’t Stop the Music” at Pure until the wee hours of the New Year, as she hosts the party at the Caesars Palace hotspot. Tickets start at $150, and tables start at $2,000.

Free cake, champagne at South Point

Usually when there’s a birthday party, the guests are asked to bring the gifts. But not when the one celebrating the milestone is a Las Vegas resort. On Wednesday from noon for 10 p.m. all guests at South Point will receive free cake and champagne to mark the occasion of the property’s fifth anniversary. In addition, live music, drink specials and point multipliers will be offered. For more information, contact the players’ club.

Incredible Golf Deal at Primm

Terrible’s Primm Valley Resort & Casino, the gaming and entertainment complex less than a half-hour’s drive south of Las Vegas, has cobbled together what is perhaps the most attractive golfing package we’ve seen-ever. For only $59, you receive one night at Primm Valley resort, a round of golf at either of the resort’s top-flight golf courses, an hour-long spa treatment, a steak and lobster dinner at GP’s, plus two free drinks at the golf course. Hard to beat. Really, nearly impossible to beat. For more info, contact Primm Valley resort.

At Hooters, Free Wings for a Good Cause

On Thursday, the Hooters hotel-casino (just off the Strip on Tropicana Avenue) will serve up 10 free wings to each customer in the resort’s eponymous restaurant from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Meanwhile, the Robosaurus, an attraction straight out of “The Transformers,” will perform in the parking lot, spouting fire and crushing large objects. To take advantage of the wings offer, you must be a member of the Owl Rewards Club, but signup is free and open to all adults of legal gambling age.

So why all the generosity? Hooters is encouraging guests to donate a non-perishable food item to the Three Square food bank or a new, unwrapped toy to Toys for Tots. Both of which will be on hand to accept donations.

H&M Opens Huge Store in Vegas

Las Vegas can now claim yet another title, thanks to its latest shopping attraction: Home to the world’s largest H&M store. The retailer has brought its affordable fashion to a 60,000-square-foot space in the Forum Shops at Caesars Palace. The new store is nearly twice as large as the company’s second-largest store, on Fifth Avenue in New York.

Blue Man Group Discounted

It’s nearly impossible to describe Blue Man Group to someone who hasn’t seen the show. Better to say: see for yourself. And now, more people have further reason to, with reduced holiday pricing from December 20 through January 1. The percussive music show—live performance art, really—plays three times nightly, at 4, 7 and 10 p.m. On New Year’s Eve, there will be no 10 o’clock show. For tickets or more information, contact the Venetian box office.
