Airport Sets Record During CES

In what could be a sign that the Las Vegas economy has rebounded, McCarran International Airport on Wednesday set an all-time record for the number of taxis loaded. About 14,500 taxis picked up airport travelers, besting the previous record of 13,927 by 4 percent.
The reason for so much activity? This week, Vegas is hosting its largest convention of the year, the Consumer Electronics Show. Airport officials say the taxi total would have been even greater had 800 travelers not been diverted to 50 shuttle buses.
