New Year’s Eve festivities brought more than 300,000 to town and closed down Las Vegas Boulevard, but the weekend went off without a hitch. No violent incidents were reported on the Strip—remarkable when you consider the huge (and somewhat intoxicated) crowd that descended there to watch the countdown. For the most part, the only fireworks were the real kind, with police reporting only 17 felony arrests, plus 52 for suspicion of driving under then influence. By early morning of New Year’s Day, Las Vegas Boulevard was completely scrubbed and ready for vehicular traffic. Happy New Year indeed.
